But when Peter arrived back in Jerusalem, the Jewish believers criticized him. [3] "You entered the home of Gentiles and even ate with them!" they said.
- Tony Campolo has a book entitled something like Aventures in Missing the Point, which as I recall deals with Christians wasting energy on the wrong issues. Obviously this is not a new phenomenon.
Acts 11:18 (NLT)
When the others heard this, they stopped objecting and began praising God. They said, "We can see that God has also given the Gentiles the privilege of repenting of their sins and receiving eternal life."
- We often miss seeing what the Holy Spirit is up to - at least initially.

... just wondering, have you read the book, "The Shack"? People seem to have mixed reactions to it. I thought it was a helpful shot of cold water to the face as far as ingrained religiousity goes. I liked the book's message quite a lot, but can see the opposing view as well.
A notable quote at the end:
"Earth's crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God; But only he who sees, takes off his shoes - The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.” - Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Hi DeAnn,
Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the scene where Mac discovers that he has in effect, been putting God on trial - that he has been placing himself above God by judging what God has done as "good or evil," ...
Most of the complaints against the book seem to criticize it as bad Theology, but the author never presents it as theology, but only as a fictional attempt to gain better insight on the nature of God, and other abstract issues.
In that regard it's a wonderful book, and I must remember that quote. I love it.
The singer's site you pointed me towards has a "burning bush" epiphany ... it was beautiful to read.
